Based out of Mississauga (suburb of Toronto), Es is an avid fan of hiphop as well as a student of hiphop. Inspired
by influences from the golden era of hip hop and music in general, Es makes a conscious effort to take it back to
the essence of hip hop…hard beats and raw rhymes. Since 1991, Es has been writing rhymes on and off as a hobby
with no real intent to enter the music industry. It has and will always be for the love. This is the approach he has
taken towards writing, recording and performing.
As ¼ of a hiphop crew called Gill Breathing ( formed in 2007 with family members Solar C,
Mathematik and Elaquent, Es is excited to make music with such talented artists. One of the milestone moments with Gill
Breathing included the opportunity to open for Reflection Eternal in June 2010.
In early 2009, Es joined forces with Introspect (Stefan Tochev) and mutual friends Lep (Lamine Martindale) and iNA
(Bhalinder Bedi) to form Homegrown). The crew put in some work,
eventually releasing their debut album entitled “Bin Doin’ This” in Mar 2011, followed by their 90’s inspired mixtape tribute
to their favourite hiphop influences in Feb 2012. The mixtape was entitled “Homegrown presents…HGmix Vol 90’s”
Motivated and inspired by these and other collaborative efforts, coupled with years of honing his craft, Es began recording
his own solo material. With his debut LP titled “Feud For Thought”, Es’ love for life, family and hiphop shines through.
Released on July 3rd 2012, ”Feud For Thought” is available on his bandcamp site
( /album/feud-for-thought) . On the strength of the “Feud For Thought” release due to
favourable online response on various social media, blogs and indie hiphop sites, a video was released for a powerful song
that truly embodies one of the themes of the album in general…YOUTH EMPOWERMENT. The song is called “Speak Up
& Speak Out. The video can be viewed here –
This song would prove to be another door opener for Es as he participated in an online song competition hosted by the
hiphop website for the Word Is Bond Rap Radio Hour show in the summer of 2013. Out of a field of 200+
submissions, the song Speak Up & Speak Out placed 3rd overall. The top spot going to talented emcee and co-founder of
Essenchill Records, Ed Rowe. Following the contest, Es and Ed Rowe would do correspondence with one another due to
mutual respect for each other’s skills. A few weeks later Es was offered the opportunity to join the Essenchill Records team
consisting of fellow emcees MKV and Ed Rowe, along with soulful boombap producer , graphic designer and Essenchill Records co-founder better known as Concept.
Through the “Feud For Thought” release, Es was also privileged to have been invited on several occasions to perform on many stages with some of indie hiphop’s heavyweights. The ensuing networking opportunities with supporters, producers and artists from different parts of the world have provided a firm platform to expand on for future releases which included
the June 28th 2014 released album entitled “Aspire To Inspire” on Essenchill Records. This album is a motivational /
inspirational album that once again showcases Es’ love for delivering thought provoking and uplifting messages over soulful
boombap production. Aspire To Inspire is available digitally at Video
for the title track was released in early July 2014 and can be seen here. .
Aspire To Inspire would go on to receive favourable reviews by several online indie hiphop blogs and radio shows
solidifying Es’ status as an emcee to watch for .
After years of honing his craft, 2015 would prove to be yet another promising year. Es would go onto to secure
acknowledgement from the Toronto hiphop community with a performance slot at Toronto’s largest urban music festival
(Manifesto) as well as a nomination and subsequent win for “best urban” artist at 2015’s Toronto Independent Music Awards
(T.I.M.A). Fresh off of a win in 2015’s Toronto Independent Music Awards (“Best Urban” category), Canadian emcee, Es,
delivers an emotionally charged new single and video entitled “Fact Remains”. Fact Remains (Official Music Video) –

2016 would continue on a positive note for Es. With a performance at Canadian Music Week and a nomination for best East
Coast rap album at the Canadian Urban Television Hiphop Awards, the future looks bright. Be on the lookout!
