Mark ‘Ego Trip’ Naylor is a hip-hop artist who grew up during the golden era in the 1990’s. As such he prides himself on authenticity and offering a voice for the downtrodden. Ego Trip’s style is very much orientated towards the societal struggles of the working class, his music also reflect, introspectively on his own personal demons.
The MC from Durham who now lives in the North West of England has had many successes throughout his career – one he is most proud of is ‘Let It Be.’ In 2015, ‘Let It Be’ was chosen as the official single for ‘Hoops Aid’ a charity event hosted by Sports Trader. The event, where ‘Let It Be’ was played, attracted tens of thousands of people and raised money for disadvantaged youths to help them get into sports.
Having been played on radio by BBC Introducing in the North East, Spark FM’s Local Music Show and TheRootMusic Rap Show, Ego has also performed all over the UK at various festivals. In 2015, he headlined the illustrious ‘World Headquarters’ in Newcastle alongside fellow local rap stars such as CAFF, Rex Regis, Kay Greyson, The Millitantz and ABSORB.
Formerly one-third of Poetiks. Ego Trip alongside Prospekt & CeeJay, released a string of projects as part of the group in 2012 and 2013. He is now currently working on his debut solo album, ‘Alien.’ The well-travelled rap artist promises that whilst it isn’t a traditional mainstream record, given the quality, it’ll inevitably end up in the national limelight – if not more.
